Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, a British American artist and a sitarist, is well known for her musical talents. She was awarded the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and also the first female recipient. Apart from the nine Grammy awards and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the first musician of Indian origin to present at and perform at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging young star of sitar music. Indian sitar. She's the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She was a child who bounded between London and New Delhi. At the age of 13 when her first performance at New Delhi took place. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha was only 17 years old, has had an extremely successful recording and performing career. She is often seen performing with her dad and has done so for a long time years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated album Live in Carnegie Hall. Apart from performing in every major venue as well, she is a stage performer for a lengthy time. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. She also published Bapi The love of my life in the year 2002. It is a biography which pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was the role of a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Her career continues to grow and she will continue to do many great things in the coming years. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent a lot of her childhood in London and Delhi later relocating to California where she went to high school. at the age of nine, she started studying the piano with her father. Her first performance with the sitar came at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka has gained lots of knowledge by traveling the world with her dad. She played at Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musical ability as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
